James provides clients with a strategic sense of the media landscape and the most effective tactics to accomplish their goals. His international and cross-cultural experience helps him facilitate meaningful and authentic relationships between clients and their audiences.
At West End Strategy Team, James works with organizations in spaces including foreign policy, human and civil rights, and social change. His clients work to defend free speech, fight for equal rights of citizenship for all Americans, and campaign for greater civil liberties and stability in the Middle East.
Before coming to WEST, James worked for over a decade in journalism across a variety of beats and mediums. Early in his career, he worked on an Emmy and Peabody award-winning investigative team covering the opioid epidemic. James spent five years based in the Middle East covering international news, and in 2018 produced an award-winning documentary on reparations and the fight to bring down confederate statues. Most recently, James managed a campaign for U.S. Congress in Los Angeles.
James holds a bachelor’s degree and an Executive Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington. He and his girlfriend live in D.C. with their dog.
