Paola Amador

Senior Strategist

A seasoned communicator with a deep understanding of how communication efforts can support policy goals, Paola equips clients to break through the crowded media landscape and connect with their priority audiences by leading strategic media campaigns and developing compelling content. She assists clients in building up civil service in African countries, representing unaccompanied migrant children, advocating for refugees, and defending global human rights from authoritarianism and extremism.

Before joining WEST, Paola served as deputy press secretary for Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and communications director and adviser for U.S. Rep. José Serrano (D-N.Y.). As part of their congressional communications teams, Paola worked to support the members’ committee and caucus work, including the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the House Appropriations Committee and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. She also worked at the Inter-American Dialogue.

Other experiences include collaborating with international affairs initiatives and documentary production. She started her career as a program assistant for the Population Fellows Program, an initiative focused on equipping public health professionals from Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Paola holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a master’s degree in global policy from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Service (SAIS). She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
