Brenda Bowser

As executive vice president at West End Strategy Team, Brenda Bowser oversees our client services teams to ensure we continue to provide best-in-class guidance and support, enabling our clients to reach their goals. She focuses on building systems and processes to keep the firm running smoothly and to ensure the continued success and growth of WEST’s team members. 

A leading strategic communications professional, Brenda brings to WEST nearly three decades of experience harnessing the power of storytelling and advocacy to protect refugees, safeguard access to secure and fair elections, ensure corporate accountability, and expand human rights. She has a long track record of cutting through red tape, seeing issues from all sides, and anticipating challenges based on her impeccable gut instinct. Brenda is passionate about inspiring others to think outside the box and stay focused on mission-driven outcomes.

Before joining WEST, Brenda spent nearly seven years as the global chief communications officer at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), where she led strategic communications efforts to advance protections for unaccompanied children seeking safety in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. Prior to KIND, she directed communications teams at the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, Human Rights First, Alliance for Justice, and the Death Penalty Information Center. She also previously served as a staffer in the U.S. Senate, on political campaigns, and in newsrooms.

Brenda holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and communications from Lycoming College, where she serves on the Alumni Association Executive Board. She lives in Burtonsville, Maryland, with her fiancé, two children, and two beloved dogs.
